Life Changing

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Back in February, UniGlory moved into a studio space in Elgin, IL. We signed a 2 month lease just to test the waters, and quickly fell in love. In March, I discovered that I was pregnant and the idea of spending money on the studio space didn’t make sense. It was really hard for me to give it up, but I knew that moving the studio back into my house was smart for my family and business, especially in this economy. My motivation was to SAVE! SAVE! SAVE!

Before setting up UniGlory in our house, we decided to upgrade the loft with new floors, paint and some updated furniture. The redesign really made a difference and we love working in the new space. Check out the updates, we are so happy with it!

After being a crabby/tired pregnant lady for almost 3 months we ran into some complications. At the end of April we found out that the baby didn’t make it and I had to go through a D&C. Daniel and I were completely heartbroken. I immediately wanted to blame myself for doing something wrong that hurt the baby. After a few days I was able to calm down and put the situation in God’s hands. It took me a week or so to recover from the D&C procedure.  While I found peace with where things are at now, I truly hope I never have to go through that again.

I could have continued to beat myself up, or wallowed in heartache over this unfortunate turn of events, but instead Dan and I have begun to put the many lessons we’ve learned through these life changing events to use.

Self-Promotion for the Creative Person

Monday, May 11th, 2009

At the 2008 HOW Creative Freelancer Conference, Lee Silber presented different ways to market and to stay motivated as a solopreneur*. After his motivating presentation I jumped to get his book, “Self-Promotion for the Creative Person: Get the Word Out About Who You Are and What You Do.”

Self-promotion is one of the most difficult things a creative person must do. It is also the most critical. Open this book to any page and chances are you will find something that can help you overcome this hurdle and get the attention and recognition you and your talents deserve. -Product Description

Did You Know?

My brother sent me this video and found it pretty impressive. It is crazy to think how technology is expanding. The fact about how half of the stuff college students learn in their first year of study is outdated by their third year is soooooo TRUE!
